An Executive visit to Welcome Lodge

In November 2018, Welcome Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 1237 and Welcome Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1237 were honoured by a visit from W.Bro. Chris Eley, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and a good number of Provincial Grand Officers of the year. Also present as an Honorary Member of the Lodge was RW.Bro. Ray Hussey, Past Provincial Grand Master.

The afternoon started off with a Royal Ark Mariners meeting where the Worshipful Commander, W.Bro. Stephen Hall, welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial Officers.

The main item on the agenda was to elevate Bro. Mathew Platts a member of Welcome Lodge of Mark Master Masons. Unfortunately Bro. Mathew was unable to attend the RAM meeting so Bro. Bob Woolloff, a guest, offered his services as Candidate for a demonstration of the Elevation Ceremony. The Worshipful Commander invited W.Bro. Miguel Godfrey to take the Chair for the demonstration. This was conducted in an excellent manner by W.Bro. Miguel and the Officers of the Lodge.

A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was then opened. The Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Mark Donovan, was admitted and advised the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Stephen Hall, that the Assistant Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and he demanded admission to the Lodge. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team and was welcomed by the Worshipful Master. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master was presented with the gavel and took the Chair. He said how pleased he was to be visiting Welcome Lodge again; the last time he visited officially was in 2009.

He then introduced the Provincial team, took the minutes and vacated the Chair. Next on the agenda was the installation of Bro. Maximilian Oscar Francis Woodward as Worshipful Master. This was done in a sincere manner by W.Bro. Stephen Hall.

W.Bro. Stephen Cann gave the Address to the Master; W.Bro. Brian Osment the Address to the Wardens; W.Bro. Richard Knox the Address to the Overseers and the Address to the Brethren was given by W.Bro. Chris Eley. After the appointment and investiture of Officers the Lodge gave a Notice of Motion to donate the sum of £500 towards the 2022 Festival at the next meeting.

After the Lodge was closed the Brethren of Welcome Lodge and their many guests sat down to a most enjoyable meal at the Sutton Masonic Centre.
