Mark Master Masons of Surrey
Our Provincial Grand Master joins Rose Croix

On Tuesday 17th April West Croydon Chapter Rose Croix held one of its regular meetings, but on this day there was nothing regular about the proceedings of the day. The candidate was none other than the Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Degree in Surrey, RW Bro Ian N Clark.

Prior to the meeting the Masonic grapevine had been working overtime and members of the Rose Croix from all over Surrey were converging on Croydon for this meeting, those in the Temple numbered 45.

Ian was admitted and the various elements of the Perfection Ceremony proceeded, with various members and some distinguished guests taking part. At the start he was greeted by none other than Ian Chandler RW Provincial Grand Master for the Craft and Surrey MEGS who acted as Marshal. The V.Ill Inspector General for Surrey, Richard Wileman, conferred the Intermediate Degrees. Yours truly acted as Raphael and the Collar, Jewel and Signs were explained by the Second Provincial Grand Principal, Stephen Dingvean.

There followed a Festive Board with the roast beef of Old England on the menu. Speeches as is the custom were fairly short. It was interesting to note that three of these were from Brethren who had served under the leadership of the Candidate in the Metropolitan Police Force. It was a memorable evening and one of our guests said that the ceremony was done with calmness, sincerity and accuracy. It would be difficult not to agree.
